Dennis Hof was an American brothel owner, television personality, and political candidate. He was best known as the owner of seven legal brothels in Nevada. Hof was posthumously elected to the Nevada State Assembly after he passed away on October 16, 2018, following a party for his 72nd birthday. Brad sat down with Dennis in what turned out to be one of his final interviews to talk about the art of sex, politics and the world’s oldest profession.

Dennis Hof (October 14, 1946 – October 16, 2018) was an American brothel owner, television personality, and political candidate. He was best known as the owner of seven legal brothels in Nevada. His best-known brothel is the Moonlite BunnyRanch.
In contrast to other Nevada brothel owners, who prefer to keep a low profile, and despite Nevada laws banning brothel advertising, Hof maintained a high profile to create publicity for his brothels. Hof wrote an autobiography, The Art Of The Pimp in 2015.
A gregarious man, Hof was the president of the Nevada Brothel Owners’ Association, and its lobbyist; the Bunny Ranch is the closest brothel to the state capital, Carson City.
At the time of his death, Hof was running for the Nevada Assembly’s 36th District. Hof, whose name remained on the ballot, posthumously won election to the seat over his Democratic opponent by a 68.3 to 31.7 percent margin.
